Sound Around Startup Profile
Originally started as a school project within the Engineering Entrepreneurship Program at NC State University, Sound Around aimed to be a crossroads between emerging mobile phone trends, digital music, and game play elements. The startup built iPhone applications for music bands, allowing them to instantly promote new content to their fans and track downloads and usage.
Interested in partnering with other local startup ReverbNation, co-founder Scott Klein was able to connect with the company through investor Jason Caplain, whom he met during a venture capital lecture.
In November of 2010, Reverb Nation acquired Sound Around and is now almost finished integrating the Sound Around technology on its platform.
