Tweetymail Startup Profile
Tweetymail was originally created by Anil Chawla as a hobby project to provide fast, simple, and convenient access to Twitter over email. "I started developing Tweetymail while working as software developer in RTP," says founder Anil Chawla. "I've always wanted to start my own company or create my own tech products."
Over time, the service was discovered by various users around the world and gained traction in the tech press, leading Anil to work on Tweetymail and other software ideas full time.
In 2010, Anil decided to convert the project into a more professional service and added a number of powerful features. He's been running a private beta since early May 2010 and just recently launched a subscription model. The app has been reviewed by TechCrunch and LifeHacker.
He's also working on his next software application, which will target wedding planners and will tentatively be launched in a beta version in June 2011.

The talent pool. "Durham and the Triangle have amazing potential," Anil says. "Folks are technologically savvy, forward thinking, and full of ambition."
The recent initiatives to revitalize the downtown Durham district and local economy also help entrepreneurs such as Anil. "I met several other founders of startups at local events," he says. "Durham has a really strong focus on building a startup community and has made a strong push to bring entrepreneurs together."
